The course consists of 2 theory sessions (T1 & T2) and 4 hikes (H1, H2, H3, & H4) in the increasing order of difficulty. T1 consists of topics related to preparation for a hike. T2 consists of Basic Navigation: Directions, Map Reading, Using a Compass and Weather etc.
When will the hikes be conducted?
There are both weekdays and weekend batches. T1, T2, H1, H2, H3 and H4 will be arranged multiple times during that period of 4-6 months. You are required to attend one each (one T1, one T2, one H1 etc.) but, if you wish to attend more, you are welcome to do so ( no extra fees ).
T1 & T2 will be conducted at a central location in Bangalore (HSR,BTM, Madiwala etc.). Exact location will be emailed to the participants one week before the event. H1, H2, H3, & H4 will be conducted within 200 kilometers of Bangalore. Exact location will be emailed to the participants one week before the event.
Will the hikes be strenuous?
No, all the hikes for this course will be beginner to medium. Hikes H1 to H4 are ordered in increasing strenousness. Refer this page (Page will be created soon) for more information regarding the difficulty level of hikes
Can I bring a friend for a hike?
Yes and No. Please read further.
(The No part) : This course has a progressive nature. That is participants progress in their skills and adaptability in wilderness trekking. If someone new directly joins for an H2, H3 or H4 trek, he/she might slow down the entire group. We do not want that. Hence we have decided not to allow those who are not registered for this course.
(The YES part) : However, some of the treks are easy on various factors and your friend may join those treks. Those treks will be marked with a star (like H1* ). For those star marked treks, you can get a friend along, but if they are not a registered student of this course then there will be a trek fee. Please note they will not be getting a trek completion stamp.
How will you be tracking my course progress?
Bangalore Adventure School will be providing an Adventure Passport for all the registered students. We will use this adventure passport to track your progress through out the course.
I have already been on hikes. So can I skip any of the hikes within the course and pay part of the fees?
No other trek is counted as part of this course and partial payment is not accepted as registration.
What is the duration of the course?
This course is spread over a period of 4-6 months but, that does not mean you have to attend the entire 4 months. The trek calendar will be shared with registered participants. All the sessions (T1, T2, H1 – H4) will be repeated multiple times during the course period. You just need to attend one each of those session. NB:- There are both weekday sessions and weekend sessions. You may pick and chose according to your schedule.
What will be the duration of each session?
H1: short trek (2-4 hours)
H2: half day (4-6 hours)
H3: full day (8-10 hours)
H4: camping + one long day hike (10-14 hours)
T1: 2 hours
T2: 3 hours
How much does the course cost?
Course Fee : 4,899 INR
This fee is for the entire course (T1, T2, H1, H2, H3 & H4). But, please note that the course fee does not include transportation and food. Please check the discount section for earlybird discount.

Will there be any trek fee for each hike within the course?
No. There will be no fees for individual treks for those who are registered for this course. But, please note the fees does not include transportation and food.
How much is the trek fee if I bring a friend?
The trek fees for those who are not registered for this course is INR 300.
However, If they register for WTC, within 1 week of that trek, they will get back that INR 300.
Also, you will get the referral bonus.
Do I need to pay the full fees before enrolling in this course?
Yes. A full payment of the course fee needs to be made before you enrol in this course.
How fit do I need to be to attend this course?
This is a beginner level course so that means most people can participate irrespective of their fitness level. It is recommended that you take this course and then evaluate yourself. However if you have any heart conditions, allergies and any other condition that could potentially be a hazard (for yourself), please consult your doctor or physician before you enrol. We also request that you let us know of any condition that you think we need to be aware of.
What is the age limit to enrol in WTC?
10 – 15 years old: Must come with an adult.
15 & above: Can come on their own.
When is the next batch starting and how do I register?
We have batches starting almost every month. You can register at any time of the year. Once registered, you will be notified of the next initiation session (T1). Registered participants are eligible to attend other sessions only after attending one of the T1 sessions.
Once you register and attend your first theory session (T1) Bangalore Adventure School will provide you an Adventure Passport. Ensure that you get your Adventure Passport stamped after every session.
You will be added to our Facebook group for all WTC participants. This is where we publish our individual session, knowledge bits etc. You can also meet other registered participants in this group.

What is the location of the course?
T1 and T2 are classroom theory sessions, they will be conducted within 30 kilometers of Bangalore city.
H1, H2, H3, H4 are treks/hikes that will be conducted within 200 kilometers of Bangalore.
Can a non-resident of Bangalore participate in this course?
Yes, you may, but please note, all the training hikes will be conducted within 200 kilometers radius of Bangalore.
What if i miss out on a session? Will it affect my course progress?
No. T1, T2, H1, H2, H3, H4 hikes/treks will be conducted, atleast once a month. So you can take it at your convenience, but only those who have completed T1 are eligible to attend H1. Similarly H1 is mandatory before taking H2, H2 is mandatory before taking H3 and so on.

Will Bangalore Adventure School provide transportation for the hikes?
Bangalore Adventure School encourages everybody to arrange their own transportation, you may also discuss in the Bangalore Adventure School course page and find carpool options. If you have a vehicle and can take more passengers, please post in the FB event page and help a fellow participant. However, we will be providing very limited transportation for a premium fee.
Why do you charge premium fee for the provided transportation?
Bangalore Adventure School encourages everyone to plan and arrange their own transportation. This is to enable you to be a better planner, hiker, and traveller. That is the reason we charge a premium for transportation.

Will there be any opportunities for me after taking this course?
Yes. At the end of this course you will have learnt the skills to plan, execute and safely complete a hike/trek. After you graduate you will be eligible to take our trek leader course. You will also be invited for exploratory trips with Bangalore Adventure School. You will also have an opportunity to participate with us for an Alpine style Himalayan Trek.
What is Alpine Style? : Alpine style refers to mountaineering in a self-sufficient manner, thereby carrying all of one’s food, shelter, equipment, etc.
Does this course enable me to possibly conduct some guided tours myself OR maybe as part of BAS?
Yes. Bangalore Adventure School is constantly on a lookout for trained trekking leads, so you will have an opportunity to be a trek lead with us. You will also be eligible to take the Trek Leader course if you wish to further develop your skills to be a professional trek lead/guide.
